But, by then, Suryashekhar has decided that he will die in Benaras to rid himself of the eternal cycle of rebirth. Their grandson, Arijit comes to stay with them through a strange turn of events, and they are overjoyed. She bears everything with quiet, resigned dignity. Suryashekhar's wife an accomplished and educated lady, is reduced to being a mute witness to all this and never protests against her husband's whims and harsh decisions. Alok marries outside his caste, denounces his horoscope, and leaves home to settle abroad with his wife. The patriarch, Suryashekhar Chattopadhyay is a deeply religious person and a man of firm principles. She gets romantically involved with Rajat who is the lavish brat of a big businessman along with her family support but then nobody is ready to bear its outcomes. During these on going course of actions she comes in contact with Urmila Sanyal (Rati Agnihotri), the leading social activist who has dedicated her life to the service of the exploited and distressed women of the society. Her photographic skills explore through the various special expressions of the people when they are dead and seeks to find out the emotions of the pale and white faces. Malini is now a well-versed photographer working in some magazine. Malini (Rituparna Sengupta) is a photo journalist, recapitulating her childhood memories while recollecting her family attachments she remembers the detachment from her inner self grounded by the molestation in her teenage.
